The Baltimore Sun’s Matt Bracken has reported that Digital Harbor graduate Justin Jackson has accepted an offer to walk-on the Morgan State University mens basketball team this winter, turning down a scholarship offer from Division II Urbana University in Ohio.

Jackson was considering several Baltimore area walk-on opportunities when Urbana offered a scholarship earlier this month.  Initially, he was set to join the Blue Knights, but changed his mind when the opportunity at Morgan evolved.

“I was just talking to my family and they said Morgan looks like a good choice because they’ve got the [financial aid] situation straight, so it’s good,” Jackson told Bracken.

As a junior, Jackson and his older brother George, who now plays at Coppin State University, helped Digital Harbor win the 2009-2009 MPSSAA Class 1A state championship.  The anticipated Division I scholarship opportunities did not follow, but a strong showing in the Baltimore Summer League this year, put Jackson back on many college radar screens.
