The defiinition of a great athlete is one who continues to get better.  In a year in which he stepped away from soccer to devote himself to distance running, Loyola’s Matt Jablonski has improved by leaps and bounds with every performance.

Saturday he was at it again.  The University of Oregon recruit won the mile race at the Bishop Laughlin Games at the Armory in New York City, earning the first automatic invitation to the prestigious Milrose Mile, which will be held at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 28.

Jablonski’s winning time was 4:19 and he closed with a 59-second split in the final 400.
