Top-ranked Archbishop Spalding rebounded from its first loss of the season Friday night to defeat Montgomery County power and host Holy Cross, 74-68, on Saturday.
The Cavaliers fell to St. John’s (DC), 50-46, in the first game of the AHC Metro Classic in Kensington before rebounding against the host Tartans 24 hours later.
Senior guard Maggie Morrison scored a game-high 24 points, while Brya Freeland contributed 15 and Camille Cauhon had 10 for Spalding. The Cavs improved to 3-1 on the young season.
Pandora Wilson tallied 19 points and Dominique Johnson added 18 to lead Holy Cross (1-2), which topped No. 2 Seton Keough, 55-48 on Friday.
Spalding trailed 51-48 entering the fourth quarter but exploded for 26 points to claim the win. Morrison and Freeland each knocked down three, three-pointers.
The Cavailers open their A Conference schedule on Wednesday with a trip to St. Vincent Pallotti at 5:30 p.m.

The Hun School (NJ) 40, No. 5 McDonogh 38: Trailing 23-18 at halftime, the Eagles fought back but couldn’t overtake the Hun School of Princeton, New Jersey in the season opener for both teams.
Midway through the third quarter, Hun opened it’s lead up to 29-20 but McDonogh was able to tie the score at 48-48. However, Hun scored the go-ahead basket with less than a minute to play and held off the Eagles.
Briana Jacobs had nine rebounds and score six points, while Marin Kobb added eight boards for McDonogh.
Both teams will play Sunday in the Mid-Atlantic Tip Off Classic at St. Timothy’s. McDonogh will face WCAC power Bishop McNamara in the finale while Hun squares off with Roland Park at noon before heading back north.
