Rising Sun’s Amanda Huff is the week three recipient of Extra Innings’ Softball Player of the Week award. The junior showed why she’s arguably the best player in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference.

Huff had three hits and three RBI as Rising Sun defeated then-No. 2 C. Milton Wright, 9-3, in a key matchup of Chesapeake Division rivals April 2. On the mound, she struck out seven and allowed eight hits.

“C.M. Wright is definitely our biggest rivals, so being able to dominate the way we did was unbelievable,” said Huff. “We really meshed.”

The next day April 4, Huff was nearly unhittable, striking out 17 in a 6-0 decision of Havre de Grace. She knocked in a run with a RBI double.

A three-year starter, Huff said she’s improved as a hitter and batter from last season. Working with a new pitching coach, Huff has added a curve ball to her repetiore. She’s currently 10-0 on the season with an 0.58 earned run average and 79 strikeouts for the fourth-ranked and defending UCBAC champ Tigers.
