Haberern, Colbert and Harris combine for 41 points

Host Howard High, after a terrible opening quarter, closed ground over the next two quarters and then outscored visiting Oakland Mills 18-12 in the final quarter to claim a 63-61 come-from-behind win over the Scorpions in Howard County boys basketball, Wednesday evening.

Oakland Mills (0-2 overall, 0-1 Howard Co.) appeared poised to run away with the contest as it limited the Lions to just seven first quarter while scoring 19. Howard, however, batted within eight points at the half and cut its deficit to four after three quarters.

Cooper Haberern led three Lions (1-1, 1-1) in double-figures with 15 points and Kyle Colbert netted 14. In addition, Darrion Harris scored 12.

Oakland Mills’ DJ Hopkins scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Scorpions, while Barry Evans and Ahmed Diaby had 11 points each. Truth Norton also pitched in with 10 points.
