Reservoir’s girls soccer team arrived at River Hill at 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon and watched the Gators’ boys squad defeat the Hawks to win the Class 3A East Regional title in penalty kicks.

The No. 12 Lady Gators wanted a title of their own and knocked off No. 10 River Hill, 2-0, to advance to the State semifinals round this weekend.

Amanda Jackson and sister Megan, scored goals for the Gators (13-3-1).  The Hawks ended their season with a 14-3-0 mark.

A year ago, Reservoir advanced to the 3A State title game before falling to Tuscarora, 3-2.  The Gators’ opponent on Saturday will be none other than the same Tuscarora squad.  The game will be played at CCBC-Essex.

Glenelg represented Howard County with a 2-0 victory over Southern-Anne Arundel yesterday in the Class 2A South Regional final.

The Gladiators upset league champion Marriotts Ridge, 2-0, last week to advance to yesterday’s finals.

Next for Glenelg is a matchup with the 2A North titlist Eastern Tech on Saturday at Bel Air High School at noon in the State semifinals round.
