Home field advantage prooved key this week for the Glenelg Country field hockey team, which finished the week with three wins, including a 3-0 victory over Park, Friday in Ellicott City.
Senior forward Claire McAuliffe put the Dragons on the board when she knocked in a loose ball less then three minutes into the game. That lead held into the second half, when sophomore midfielder Amy Keth tipped in a cross by McAuliffe to give Glenelg the 2-0 lead with 17:13 left in the second half.
Six minuts later senior, foraward Abby Franklin tipped in a shot to the post from senior forward Sam Weinstein. GCS outshot Park, 16-1, and held the advantage of offensive penalty corners, 12-1. Weinstein and senior defender Brittney Jorgenson had outstanding games for the host Dragons.
