Bulls close regular season with a Senior Night win, but lose Hillary
Closing its regular season on Senior Night with a Top 20 foe in for a visit, the Hereford boys soccer team claimed an impressive win, Monday, but also suffered a key loss heading into the post-season.
The No. 16 Bulls (10-4) look sharped in shutting out No. 19 Dulaney, 3-0, as Nicco Boggan, Niko Hillary and Logan Kauffman each scored single goals, while John Kousouris and Boggan added assists.
A few minutes into the second half, however, Hillary, one of the Bulls’ top scorers and play-makers went down with broken collarbone and will be lost for the post-season.
Claiming the shutout in goal was senior Bruce Hoosier, who went the distance and made six saves. Kobe Crone had eight stops for Dulaney (7-3-2).
Hereford awaits the outcome of Wednesday’s game between Towson and Franklin to see if it will be in the Baltimore County Championship game on Oct. 23rd at CCBC-Catonsville. If Towson wins it advances to play Eastern Tech. If Franklin pulls the upset the Bulls will go. Otherwise, Hereford will await the state playoff draw to determine its first post-season contest.
Dulaney is also gearing up for the state playoffs, but will close its regular season with a home game against Pikesville on Wednesday and a road contest at Calvert Hall on Friday.
