Hammond’s boys basketball team used a 22 point, second quarter offensive outburst to defeat visiting Edgewood, 58-46, on Monday night.

The Golden Bears had three players score in double-digits, led by Shawn Lenear’s game-high 19 points.  Demetrius Powell added 14 points and Ife Bello contributed 12.

Junior point guard Thomas Dillard had 16 points and junior forward Henry Van Rolle added 15 for the Rams of Harford County.

Hammond is looking to defend last season’s Howard County title, while Edgewood has aspirations of returning to the Class 2A East Regional title game where they fell to Easton, 72-56.

The Rams return to the court today to face No. 7 John Carroll. The Golden Bears will travel to league opponent Centennial on Wednesday.
