Dave Patrick scored 16 points to help Hammond claim a close, 69-67 victory over Glenelg on Wednesday night in Howard County league action.
The Golden Bears (11-5 overall, 8-5 conference) have won eight straight games and avenged an early season loss to the Gladiators. Duane Echols added 11 points and Shaun Lenear had 10.
Glenelg (11-5, 11-2) fell behind by 15 points after the first quarter and trailed 38-24 at halftime. In the fourth quarter, the Gladiators made an attempt at the comeback, outscored Hammond, 25-13 in the final period.
But the Bears hot start was too much for Glenelg to overcome.
