Stuck behind an established starter at D.C. powerhouse Good Counsel, rising junior quarterback Thomas Stuart has transferred to Calvert Hall and will compete for the Cardinals’ starting quarterback position, which is open with the graduation of Patrick Fitzgerald.

Like Fitzgerald, who was as much a runner as a passer, Stuart is small for a quarterback. He stands just 5-feet-11 and weighs only 165- pounds. However, he is known to have tremendous arm strength.

Once Stuart made the decision to leave Good Counsel he looked at several programs and decided to move to Calvert Hall, over public school power Linganore, which also graduated a starting quarterback.

A key factor in the decision is Stuart’s relationship with Calvert Hall offensive coordinator Cory Robions, who Stuart calls a mentor. Stuart has already begun to learn the Cardinal playbook and will soon join his new team for summer workouts.
