No. 15 Glenelg Country picked up an impressive non-conference win on Thursday evening, as the Dragons topped visiting Digital Harbor, 76-69, in Ellicott City.
Last season, the Rams knocked off Glenelg Country in the opening game of the O. Ray Mullis Tournament at Cardinal Gibbons. Unlike last year, the Dragons got a lead and held on to it to beat Digital Harbor. (CLICK HERE FOR HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST YEAR’S CONTEST)
Glenelg Country (15-2) built a nine point first quarter lead, but watched it dwindle to three at the end of three quarters, before putting the Rams away in the final stanza.
Sophomore Warren Powers paced GCS with a game-high 22 points, which included a stellar 10-for-11 performance from the free throw line.
More fire power came from Kevin Boyd, who hit a pair of threes in a 20-point performance, and junior Isaiah Miles, who also had two threes and 18 points.
Five Digital Harbor players reached double-figures led by Dontrell Kelly’s 14 points. Daquan Cooke and Antonio Manns added 13 each, while Ronald Epps and Kevin Smith contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.
