Robbie Mullinix scored a team-high 15 points but Glenelg fell short to Eleanor Roosevelt in a 54-53 decision on Monday night at the Milford Mill Academy Holiday Mixer.
A steal and layup by Chaun Miller gave the Raiders (4-3) a 54-47 advantage with just 1 minute, 23 seconds left in the game but the Gladiators (6-2) weren’t done yet.
Senior forward Erik Siegfried found classmate Matt Hyer, who buried a three-pointer from the corner with 59 seconds remaining. Glenelg forced a turnover on Roosevelt’s next possession and this time, Jake True found Hyer for another three to cut the score to 54-53 with 24 seconds to go.
The Gladiators found themselves with possession of the ball with 14 seconds to play. Siegfried inbounded the ball to senior Shane Kellaher, who drove to the basket but his layup bounced off the rim and the Raiders pulled out the close win.
NieRonn Miles finished with a game-high 17 points, while Prince Okoroh and Miller each scored 11 each for Roosevelt.
Troy Spurrier added nine points for the Glenelg, and Kellaher added eight points. The Gladiators will face No. 8 Dunbar Tuesday on the second day of the mixer.
