Gilman senior offensive lineman Hunter Goodwin, who completed his high school football career in the fall, will represent the United States on the U19 National Team in a game against the World Team on Feb. 2, in Austin, Texas.
Goodwin, who is 6-feet-5, 280-pounds, has committed to a football scholarship offer from Waker Forest University and will attend the ACC school beginning next fall. He is one of 45 U.S. high school seniors selected to participate in the contest.
The U.S. team, assembled by USA Football, will compete in a contest sanctioned by the International Federation American Football (IFAF), a federation based in Paris and composed of 59 countries that posses a national federation dedicated solely to American football.
The 2011 U19 team will be led by Darren Allman, head coach at Austin Westlake High School (TX), which reached the Texas 5-A state final in 2009.
