With Arundel suffering its first defeat last weekend, there’s a shakeup among the locals in the latest statewide media poll.
Gilman School, the top team in the latest VSN metro Top 20, move up a spot to No. 2 behind Montgomery County’s Damascus, which received all 12 first-place votes. Calvert Hall College advanced from fifth to No. 3.
Arundel, which was upset by Anne Arundel County rival Southern last Friday evening, dropped from No. 2 to ninth. Defending Class 4A state champ Old Mill climbed three spots to 10th.
Undefeated North Harford advanced three places to 18, while Broadneck fell from 11th to 21st after a 31-7 pasting at Old Mill last Friday. The teams will meet against Friday evening in Millersville in the opening round of the 4A East Region playoffs.
River Hill moved up to 22nd. Hereford and unbeaten South Carroll enters the poll at 24th and 25th, respectively. Eastern Tech, Hammond, Dunbar and Patterson received votes.
The final state poll will be released after completion of the state tournament.
