Scoring machine Dylon Cormier, who made a name for himself filling up the stat sheet at Cardinal Gibbons, is paying immediate dividends for Loyola.

Last night, Cormier scored 20 points to power the Greyhounds over cross-town rival UMBC at Reitz Arena, 83-72.  The freshman is averaging 12 points per game through three contests.

The six-foot-two point guard averaged 19 points, six rebounds and four assists during his senior season with the Crusaders.  He was an All-MIAA A Conference and All-Baltimore Catholic League selection and starred with Crusader Nation on the AAU circuit.

Against the Retrievers, Cormier scored seven consecutive points, sparking an 11-0 run in the second half that opened up a double-digit lead for Loyola (2-1).

Next for the Greyhounds is a matchup with Dartmouth on Sunday at noon.
