Seton Keough’s varsity volleyball team won the first two sets against visiting McDonogh on Monday afternoon and looked like it would coast through the rest of the match.
But the Eagles battled back to the take the third set but the Gators finished things off in fourth frame and defeated McDonogh, 25-20, 25- 19, 23-25, 25-8 in IAAM A Conference action.
The Gators were led by setter Tori Antoine, Liz Brown (14 kills) and EJ Igwe (11 kills).
Seton Keough will travel to Chapelgate on Wednesday for another conference game.
“The Gators had a real good day at the net with eight blocks, five of them by Liz Brown,” said Seton Keough coach SJ Greenway. “She was on today and it transferred throughout the team.”
She added: “A really good win against a very tough McDonogh team.”
Seton Keough improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in league play. McDonogh fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.
