Mount St. Joseph soccer stretched its recent win streak to four games, on Friday, as they shutout visiting John Carroll, 2-0 in Irvington.

Both goals came in the first half as Nick Buric converted a penalty kick and sophomore Drew Smith pounded a free kick into the upper 90 from 20 yards.

Head coach Mike St. Martin’s squad has continued to win despite lingering hamstring injuries to stars Jalen Robinson and Jordan Manley.

“Brett Smoot and Ryan Bailey did a great job in the back filling in for Manley,” said St. Martin.  “David Kaiser also did an excellent job helping Nate Ramsland record his ninth shutout.”

Manley has been down for a few weeks, but Robinson returned to score twice in a win over Gilman on Tuesday, but he rested it once again Friday.

St. Martin is hoping to have both players ready to go for the playoffs.  The Gaels have two regular season games left – Archbishop Spalding on Tuesday and under the lights at Calvert Hall on Thursday.
