Mount St. Joseph keep Eagles reeling; Stines scores 22


D’Angelo Stines scored 22 points and freshman forward Bryson Tucker added 17 as Mount St. Joseph posted a 66-43 victory over McDonogh School in a MIAA A Conference basketball contest Friday afternoon in Owings Mills.

The Gaels built a 41-23 halftime advantage, en route to its third victory in four outings in a truncated 2021 season. Senior Ausar Crawley, who will play football at Morgan State University in the fall, and senior post Sean Carr, combined for 16 points.

Stines, a senior guard who will play basketball at Old Dominion University next season, scored 10 straight points in the opening quarter. The Gaels led 19-12 after one, then expanded it to 18 by halftime. They led 55-35 after three periods.

Junior post Dani Dennis-Sutton led McDonogh School (1-3) with 13 points and Siena-bound Jared Billups finished with 12. The Eagles, loser of three straight, look to end the skid Monday evening at home against Annapolis Area Christian School in MIAA A play.

Mount St. Joseph welcomes Gilman School to Smith Center Monday for a MIAA A match.
