Friends School, led by its sensational senior duo of Rossano Jones and Jihar Williams, overcame slow start to surge in front of Chapelgate Christian Academy, Thursday in Baltimore, and the Quakers held on for a 61-60 victory, in the MIAA B Conference basketball opener for both schools.

Only three players scored for Friends (3-0, 1-0) with Jones and Williams combining for 50 of their team’s 61 points. The other 11 were scored by junior Jacob Rainess.

Friends trailed 12-6 at the end of one quarter but battled back to tie the contest, 23-23, at the half.

Chapelgate (2-6, 0-1) waisted a huge effort from Jason Murphy who scored 15 points and had 17 rebounds. Galen Morant also had 15 points for the Yellow Jackets.
