In its 3-0 start, Franklin High football’s team has used the third quarter as the proverbial knockout punch. The No. 13 Indians didn’t wait Friday evening against Woodlawn in a 33-12 decision at Kevin Lyles Stadium.
Franklin raced out to a 27-0 halftime as the Reisterstown school won its Baltimore County 3A/4A league opener. The Indians (4-0 overall, 1-0 3A/4A) along with Western Tech are the only unbeaten teams in Baltimore County.
Senior quarterback Joey Dorsey threw three touchdowns, including strikes of five and 41 yards to junior wideout Ian Thomas. Mark Venable had a 1-yard and recovered a block punt in the end zone, and Reggie Ellis had a touchdown reception.
Dorsey completed 10 of 17 passes with no interceptions. Thomas, who had 213 receiving yards in his previous outing against Catonsville, caught four passes for 71 yards Friday. Venable rushed for 84 yards and added six tackles on defense.
Senior linemen Jamal Ibrihim had two quarterback sacks. The Indians host Milford Mill Friday evening.
