No. 12 Franklin got off another fast start and rolled to a 42-7 decision over Milford Mill in a Baltimore County 3A/4A league contest Friday night at McWilliams Stadium. The combination of Joey Dorsey and Ian Thomas was busy again the Indians (5-0 overall, 2-0 3A/4A) .
Dorsey, a senior quarterback threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns, two going to Thomas. Thomas, a junior wide receiver, had three receptions for 92 yards. Reggie Ellis had a 93-yard kickoff return for a score and Marquis Ellis caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Dorsey.
Dorsey and Thomas got the Indians rolling in the opening quarter with a 66-yard scoring play, followed by a safety by Nick Tawney for a 9-0 advantage. Milford Mill (1-4, 0-2 3A/4A) got on the board in the second quarter as sophomore quarterback Kyle McEachern connected with Katrell Myers for a 73-yard touchdown.
The Millers’ momentum did last as Ellis took ensuing the kickoff to Milford Mill’s end zone, igniting a 20-point explosion. Dorsey threw scoring passes to Marquis Ellis and a 21-yarder to Thomas, sending the Indians into halftime with a 29-7 advantage.
Anthony Taylor and Mark Venable each added one-yard touchdown runs in the second half as the Indians remained tied for first in the 3A/4A league with Hereford and Perry Hall. Venable led Franklin’s defense with eight tackles.
Franklin travels to Dulaney next weekend, while Milford Mill is at Parkville.
