Connor Mitchell sets the pace with a hat-trick, three others score twice


Top-ranked Calvert Hall continues to find new ways to impress on the lacrosse field and Tuesday afternoon was no different as 14 different Cardinals scored at least one goal in a 19-3 drubbing of visiting Mount St. Joseph, in MIAA A Conference action in Towson.

Connor Mitchell paced the attack with three goals and an assist, while Mic Kelly, Josh Webber and Collin Stewart each netted two goals as head coach Bryan Kelly played the entire roster extensively.

Daniel Kelly was also big stalwart, as usual, scoring one goal and handing out five assists for a team-high six points. Grant Mitchell added one goal and two assists and Cole Herbert and Ryan Vermeulen each had a goal and an assist.

Scoring once each for Calvert Hall were Truitt Sunderland, Ethan Long, Sean Kitchen, Hunter Tipton and Kyle Eckert.

St. Joe’s goals came from Nick Groff, Bradley David and Brett Callahan.

Calvert Hall (11-1 overall) is now 6-0 in the conference as it keeps its eyes set on the top seed. Next up, the Cardinals will visit No. 4 Gilman on Saturday afternoon before hosting No. 3 St. Paul’s on Tuesday.

St. Paul’s improved to 6-1 in league play on Tuesday with a 12-5 win over Archbishop Spalding and Gilman improved to 4-2 with a 14-13 overtime win over Loyola.

St. Joe (2-11 overall) is now 0-6 in the conference.
