Five MIAA A Conference squads are listed in the upper half of the ESPNRise’s national boys’ lacrosse rankings.
Boys’ Latin, which started No. 4 in the ESPN preseason poll, maintained its standing while defending MIAA A champ St. Paul’s School slipped from third to ninth.
The Crusaders, ranked No. 1 in VSN’s Top 20, should move up in the next polling after beating Georgetown Prep (No. 3 by ESPNRise), 11-8, Tuesday afternoon in Brooklandville. St. Paul’s only setback came against nation’s No. 1 Haverford Prep from Pennsylvania in the season opener.
Gilman School advanced from No. 20 to 15th. The Greyhounds will host Georgetown Prep Friday afternoon. McDonogh School and Calvert Hall College are 18th and 19th, respectively.
After victories over three nationally ranked D.C. area programs (DeMatha, Gonzaga and Landon School), St. Mary’s debut at No. 24. The Saints, under new coach Rob Chomo, begin their MIAA A slate against Mount St. Joseph Friday in Annapolis.
