In the renewal of a neighborhood basketball rivalry, host Patapsco turned in a tremendous defensive effort as it routed Sparrows Point, 70-33, in Baltimore County boys basketball, on Wednesday.
Davon Darby and Gary Fayall combined for 10 steals to key the Patriot defense, which helped build a 26-4 first quarter lead. Fayall led all Patriot scorers with 17 points, while juniors Aaron Phillps and Rowland Hailey scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.
In addition, Patapsco point guard Devin James added nine points and six assists, while Darby also netted nine points.
Sparrows Point was led by senior Cody McVey, who scored a game-high 19 points.
The Patriots moved to 5-0 with the win as they head to Parkville on Thursday.
