With just three wins a year ago, the Long Reach girls soccer team was seeking a fast start in 2010 and the Lightning got just that on Saturday, sweeping a pair of games at the North County Tournament to take the title.
Long Reach knocked off a pair of IAAM schools, taking down Seton Keough, 4-0, in the opening round and edging Mount de Sales, 2-1, in the double-overtime final.
Sophomore Kristen Fawole was the offensive star in the final as she scored two goals in each game for Long Reach.
In the final, Mount de Sales took a 1-0 lead and maintained it until the midway point of the second half. Fawole tied the game on an assist from Heather Glasser, and scored the golden goal with an assist from Angelina Rebaza.
In addition to her two scores in the first contest Fawole had two assists, while Rebaza and Akilah Limes scored one goal each.
Mount de Sales defeated host North County, 1-0, in the opening round and Seton Keough defeated North County, 3-1, in the consolation game.
