As of 11 a.m. this morning, the University of Maryland’s men’s basketball program has inked another standout guard for its Class of 2011.
City College shooting guard Nick Faust, surrounding by his family, coaches and fellow Knights basketball players, signed his National Letter of Intent to become the newest Terp.
“I’m feeling really great,” said Faust. “I feel like I have accomplished something for my whole life. This is the best feeling you can have and I feel like everything has paid off.”
Faust said he has been keeping an eye on Maryland through the first few games of the 2010-2011 season.
“I caught Pe’Shon Howard hit that game-winner the other day,” said Faust, referring to Maryland’s close 75-74 win over the College of Charleston last week.
With freshman guards Terrell Stoglin and Howard making an immediate impact and the addition of Faust and New Jersey point guard-commit Sterling Gibbs, the Terps’ backcourt looks to be set for years to come.
As a junior at City last year, Faust averaged close to 20 points and six rebounds for the Knights, who won their second straight Class 2A state title.
The six-foot-six guard said he is turning his sights now to helping his team win a Baltimore City title and the program’s third consecutive state title.
