Shaking off last week’s heart-breaking one-point loss to North Harford, the Fallston football team jumped right back into the win column following a short week of work, as the Cougars traveled to Elkton and shutout the host Golden Elks, 20-0, on Thursday night.
Grant Kelly ignited the Cougars by returning the game’s opening kick 85-yards for the first score of the game. Elkton responded with an apparent touchdown drive, but a holding call negated a touchdown run by Derek Singleton and the drive eventually stalled at the Fallston one.
Kelly extended Fallston’s lead with a 50-yard touchdown pass to Chris Cooper, in the second quarter. The Cougars’ final score came in the fourth quarter when Marc Badger rushed 20 yards to the end zone.
Fallston improved to 6-1 with the victory, including 3-1 in the UCBAC Chesapekae Division, and bolster their playoff hopes in the 2A East Region. Elkton fell to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the league.
