Old Mill’s winning streak is intact-barely. The No. 4 Patriots outlasted visiting Severna Park, 20-14, in overtime in Anne Arundel County action Friday evening.

Carl Chance caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Ludwig and Marcus Hicks’ interception were the decisive plays as the reigning Class 4A champ Patriots (2-0 overall and Anne Arundel) extended the area’s longest winning streak to 16. Donovan Franklin and Shawn Brown scored rushing touchdowns for Old Mill in regulation.
Austin Stein had an one-yard run for Severna Park (1-1, 1-1 Anne Arundel) and Calvin Green scored on a three-yard run in the third quarter. Green’s run was followed with a successful two-point conversion, tying the game at 14.
Chance, one of the heroes from the Patriots’ state-title game victory over Quince Orchard last December, hauled in Ludwig’s pass in the right corner to open overtime. The Patriots’ defense knocked the Falcons for a 13-yard loss.
After a short gain by Green, Stein, a quarterback, fumbled the exchange. He quickly recovered but his pass was easily intercepted by Hicks, ending the game.
The Patriots, winners of 20 consecutive regular season matches, dating back to the 2010 campaign, head to North County Friday. Severna Park hosts Southern.
