Eagles handle Severn in opening round of AACS Eagle Classic

Indian Creek’s Maddy Evans sank nine field goals and went 5-of-6 from the free throw line, Friday, to score 23 points and lead the Eagles to a 54-33 win over Severn School in the girls bracket at the Annapolis Area Christian Eagle Classic.

Paige Wells added 10 points and Megan Burker netted nine to support Evans’ efforts for Indian Creek.

The Eagles (3-0) took control from the opening tip, outscoring Severn 14-4 in the opening quarter and going up 26-8 at the half. The Admirals got back within 10 after three quarters, but Indian Creek sprinted away again in the final quarter.

Jenn Pongon led Severn with 13 points and Morgan Skinner added eight.

Indian Creek will face host AACS in Saturday’s final. The Eagles defeated Atlantic Shores Christian in Friday’s other semifinal.
