For the second straight game, Edmondson High’s boys’ basketball team used a second half surge to victory. The No. 7 Red Storm edged past St. Albans School from the District, 69-54, in the opening round of the Golds Gym Holiday Tournament in Hedgesville, WV Tuesday evening.
Kavon Pyatt led all scorers with 19 points, and senior guard Rodney Pratcher added 16 for the Red Storm (7-0 overall). Michael Wiacek led St. Albans with 12 points, and Spencer Barks and Marshall Forney each contributed 11.
Tied at 30 at intermission, the defending Baltimore City league champions outscored St. Albans, 23-6, in the third to take a 17-point advantage. Last week against Edmondson rolled up 51 points in the second half of an 83-66 decision at Digital Harbor.
Michael Bradley scored 12 points for Edmondson, and Raynair Pratcher finished with 11 points. Wednesday evening, the Red Storm take on host and unbeaten Hedgeville (7-0) in the championship game.
