With both teams seeing each other in the 1A/2A North Regional Duals, spectators got a preview of Wednesday’s match-up when the Eastern Tech Mavericks did battle with the Sparrows Point Pointers, Tuesday, to a 32-36
Maverick win.
It was a hard fought battle with the Mavericks taking eight of the weightclasses on the night, but bonus point wins by Sparrows Point kept the Pointers in the meet.
Pinning for the Pointers, Hammer, Krug and Clark earned falls at 152, 189 and 285, with added decisions by Collurafici (112), Lewis (119) and Cadd (140) to total 26 team-points.
Eastern Tech notched point wins with Check Baugher (125), Kolten Fodel (130), Ilya Usik (145), Greg Stephens (160), Nathaniel Gale (171) and Michael Coleman (215), as Usik marked a major at 145 and Coleman edged a double overtime win at 215.
The Mavericks had two pinners on the night, seeing Sam Caravello open the dual meet with a fall at 103, and Stephen Beam earning a fall at 135.
Both the teams are scheduled to see each other in Wednesday’s 1A/2A North Regional Duals at Owings Mills, with the tournament schedule below.
