The Annapolis Area Christian Eagles opened the 2010-2011 season with two wins, Thursday, beating Friends, 39-24, and Mt. Carmel, 40-27.

Trailing Friends, 12-18, after giving up three forfeits in five matches, the Eagles saw back-to-back-to-back falls from Sandacz, Miller and Fonts to reclaim the lead, 30-18, and would finish with wins from Bowers and Solando for the 39-24 final.

Solando also recorded a fall for the Eagles, wrestling just 43 seconds, and rivaled teammate Sandacz’ fastest fall of the night, which was completed in 18 seconds.

Winners for Friends included forfeits to D. Rutstein, Sullivan and Edmunds, while Batho stuck his opponent 19 seconds into the second period.

With the first five weightclasses decided by forfeits, Sandacz started his season 2-0 with a second coming in the first contested match against the Cougars, and was followed by falls from Bowers and Salando in the 40-27 win.

Working a major decision for the Eagles was Miler, winning 12-3, who also began his season undefeated.

Mt. Carmel pulled out wins at 152, 189 and 215, seeing falls from Taylor and Wildberger, and an 11-4 decision from Lesane.

AACS will have one week to prepare for the No. 2 St. Paul’s Crusaders, while Mt. Carmel hosts Boys’ Latin on Monday before Friends plays host to Boys’ Latin and Lutheran next Wednesday.
