Shane Skyers and the Owings Mills High’s boys soccer are headed back to the state Final Four. The Eagles topped visiting Sparrows Point, 2-0, for the 1A South Region title Tuesday night.
The Eagles (7-6) will play Washington County’s Brunswick in a state semifinal Saturday at Noon at North County. It’s the first Final Four trip for Owings Mills since 2007.
The Eagles can thank Skyers, a senior forward. He scored off a pass from junior midfielder Jozane Wilson to break a scoreless tie in the 57th minute. In the 68th minute, Skyers converted a penalty kick for the final margin.
Senior goalie Sean Lorden stopped seven shots to keep the Pointers at bay. Sparrows Point reached the region finals with a 1-0 decision over then-defending state 1A champ Loch Raven.
