Sophomore Tevon Saddler scored 14 points and Gerrae Williams and Brian Adkins each contributed 12 as Aberdeen picked up its first victory of the season with a 55-34 decision over Bel Air in an UCBAC non-division contest.
The Eagles (1-3 overall) from Harford County has challenged with themselves with a tough non-league schedule the last several seasons, and this year’s is no different. Aberdeen opened with losses at perennial Howard County power Atholton, then-No. 20 Douglass at the Spark at the Park Mixer at Forest Park, and No. 9 Dunbar at home.
The Eagles, looking to regain the UCBAC title, didn’t take long to gain command Tuesday against its Harford County rival. Aberdeen constructed leads of 20-7 after one and 34-17 at halftime. Dezmon Hall led Bel Air (2-2) with 13 points and added four rebounds and four assists.
Aberdeen, which will play at the Basketball Academy Mixer at Coppin State in January, hosts Friendship Collegiate (D.C.) in another non-league match Friday. Bel Air plays at Joppatowne Thursday.
