No. 20 Centennial battles past Oakland Mills, gains share of first in Howard County boys hoops; Baker scores 27

Bryson Baker finished with a game-high 27 points and Brandon Bonner added 13 as 20th-ranked Centennial High defeated Oakland Mills, 68-61, in a Howard County boys basketball contest in Columbia.

The Ellicott City school put together a 8-0 run in the decisive fourth quarter, winning its eighth straight road decision. The win puts Centennial (12-3 overall, 8-2 Howard into a first-place tie with Reservoir (8-2).

Joey Sedlacko had 10 points for Centennial, which led, 34-28 at halftime. Barry Evans finished with 19 points for Oakland Mills (13-4, 8-3 Howard), and DJ Hopkins chipped in 14.

The Scorpions, who’ve dropped their last two home league decisions, hosts Howard Wednesday before traveling to league co-leading Reservoir Friday evening.

Centennial is back on the road Wednesday at Mount Hebron.
