McDonogh School girls’ tennis team posted a 4-1 victory over Mount de Sales Academy Wednesday afternoon in an IAAM A Conference match. The Eagles swept the singles’ matches with Kristina Centennari defeating Jennie Phelps in straight sets (6-0 and 6-0) in No. 1, and No. 2 performer Emily Rosenfield losing just a match in a sweep of Meghan Owings (6-1 and 6-0).

Mount de Sales’ lone victory came in the No. 1 doubles with Mary Kate Facchina and Gabby Cha outlasting Bailey Ewing and Taylor Munroe, 6-2, 2-6 and 6-2. The No. 2 doubles match went the distance with the Eagles’ Carly Geller and Tiffany Munroe winning, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, over the Sailors’ Elizabeth McCollum and Michelle Nappi.

McDonogh won the No. 3 doubles with Julie Lazer and Rachel Morrison sweeping Brooke Dignan and Alyssa Ferguson, 6-2 and 6-2. The Eagles are back in action Thursday with a non-conference match with Oldfields School.

The IAAM tournament is scheduled to begin Monday, with the finals Oct. 21 at McDonogh.
