Outlook: The Poets begin defense of their Baltimore City Division I championship. Dunbar tied Poly for the crown in 2009.

The Poets got 2010 off to a fast start last Saturday with a 42-0 decision over Randallstown. Senior Bryant Vass threw for three touchdowns, and Joppatowne-transfer Epe Henriques had a 37-yard touchdown reception and five-yard scoring in his debut.

Patterson opened its against a Baltimore County foe, handling Parkville, 22-6. The Clippers, under coach Corey Johnson, reached the Class 4A North Region title game last season. They have one of the city league’s best players in senior quarterback Aaron Overton.

The Clippers ended Dunbar’s 25-game winning streak against city foes with a 37-20 decision last season.
