Douglass-BC continued to march towards a state playoff berth, on Friday, as the Ducks routed Southside Academy, 40-14, behind several big offensive performances.

Matt Goode jump-started Douglass (6-1, 5-0) with an 85-yard kickoff return to open the game and added a two-point to give the Ducks an 8-0 lead.  Marcus Nickens countered with a 10 yard touchdown pass to Jabrail Johnson for Southside, but Zach Morgan followed with a pair of rushing touchdowns to give the Ducks a 22-6 lead at the end of one quarter.

Following a scoreless second quarter, Nickens opened the second half with another touchdown pass, this time for 26 yards to Ezell Jones, pulling Southside within 22-14.  The Jaguars (3-4, 3-2) would get no closer.

Carlos Croslin followed with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Dewey Ruth for Douglass and then Crosslin bolted 53 yards with a punt return for another score to give the Ducks a 34-14 lead at the end of three quarters.

Jemale Gibson put the finishing touches on the score with a three yard in run in the final quarter.

Croslin finished with 122 yards rushing on nine carries, while Morgan finished with 66 yards rushing and his two scores.  Defensively, Brandon Sampson broke three passes and intercepted two others.  Also, Eric Scott had six tackles, including one for loss, and he forced and recovered a fumble.
