Four score in double figures as Glenelg Country wins MIAA A opener

Glenelg Country broke open a close game with 23 third quarter points and rode that momentum to a 71-62 win over Calvert Hall, Monday night in Ellicott City, in the MIAA A Conference basketball opener for both teams.

The teams were tied after one quarter and the host Dragons (3-0 overall) led by just two at the half. In the third, however, GCS outscored the Cardinals 23-15 and created the space it needed.

Junior Igor Yoka-Bratasz led a quartet of Dragons in double figures as he netted 18 points. Fellow juniors Jordan Brathwaite and Noah Charles scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, and Jarord Robinson, also a junior, added 11 points.

Logan Curtis kept Calvert Hall (2-2 overall) competitive with a game-high 25 points and Jaylen Raikes added 10. Four other Cardinals scored six points each.
