Loyola hoops improves to 2-0 with a win over St. Mary’s


The Loyola basketball team hosted St. Mary’s at Blakefield on Friday night and raced out to a quick 16-3 first quarter lead to springboard the Dons to an 81-58 MIAA non-league victory over the Saints.

Mitch Fischer paced Loyola (2-0) with 25 points, while Gavin Walsh added 12 and Will Koras netted 10. In addition, Cam Smith stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals.

Mike Parme did his best to keep St. Mary’s (1-1) competitive as he hit five of his team’s eight three-pointers and finished with 15 points. Jacob Are added 13 and Connor Harris finished with 12 for the Saints.
