The Stevenson University field hockey team enters 2010 looking to improve on a 6-12 record from a year ago and the Mustangs will rely on 20 players with Baltimore area high school roots to step forward.

Leading that group will be a pair of 2nd-team Capital Athletic Conference selections in seniors Natalie DiPaolo and Kara Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, the team’s starting goal-keeper, earned second-team honors for the second time as she posted a career-high 172 saves to lead the conference.  A product of Arundel High School, Zimmerman had an .808 saves percentage in 2009.

At Arundel Zimmerman was a second-team All-Anne Arundel County was an honorable mention All-Metro selection as a senior.

DiPaolo, who went to Perry Hall High School, was Stevenson’s top defender.  She recorded 17 defensive saves, which was just three shy of the school record.  The total also allowed her to ranked second in Division III field hockey.  DiPaolo was an All-Baltimore County selection as a senior at Perry Hall.
