Eagles notch their second shutout of the year in league opener

After a pair of non-conference wins, Francis Scott Key faced its first Carroll opponent of the year, Friday night, and the Eagles pitched their second shutout of the year, downing visiting Winters Mill, 16-0.

The first score for Key came on field position provided by the defense, setting up a 41-yard touchdown pass from Jarren Rutter to Austin Schemm. That would ultimately be the only points the Eagles would need, but they added a 26-yard field goal by Keith LaPierre and a 16-yard TD pass from Rutter to Ryan Rill, in the second half.

Winters Mill fell to 0-3.
