Archbishop Curley and Calvert Hall renewed their annual Alumni Cup soccer series, Tuesday at Curley, and the host Friars got a first half goal from freshman PJ Koscher and they made it stand up for a 1-0 victory in the MIAA A Conference season opener for both squads.

Junior Ricky Greensfelder provided the assist for the No. 19 Friars (2-2-1) overall as the improved to 3-5-1 in the Alumni Cup.  They will not hold the trophy until next year.

“We played a great game today,” said Curley head coach Barry Stitz.  “The  boys played hard and kept their composure in a very physcial game.”

Calvert Hall was playing its season opener in an unusally late start to the season for the Cardinals.
