The St. Paul’s Crusaders traveled to Alexandria, Va., Friday afternoon, to take on the Episcopal Maroons in a boys varsity lacrosse game, and came away with an 18-5 victory.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 10-1 halftime lead and cruised to victory in the second half.  St. Paul’s substituted early and often as all 34 players available played quality game minutes. Thirteen different Crusaders were involved in the scoring.

Carter Flaig and Mikey Wynne registered hat tricks and single helpers. The Pollard brothers, Joe and Jack, each scored two goals, as did BJ Mattheiss. Joe Pollard also chipped in with a single helper, while Liam Anderson doled out four assists for the visitors.  In addition, single tallies were delivered by Alex McGovern, Mitch Gordon, Connor Sheehan, Roger Boyce, Frank Herr and Avery Rand.

Longstick middie Brendon Connolly also added an assist for the Crusies. Faceoff middie Eli Ayer corralled 19 out of 24 draws and scooped up 11 groundballs to help spark St. Paul’s (2-2).

St. Paul’s outshot Episcopal 56-21, and won the groundball battle 44-19.
