Owls hope to build on 2018 momentum

Rising senior quarterback Treshawn Ray will again lead Dundalk’s offense. The Owls claimed a piece of the Baltimore County Division I title and reached the Class 3A North Region championship game last season.

With practice for the 2019 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.

Dundalk Owls

2018 record: 10-2 (Class 3A North Region finalist)

Overview: The Owls shared the Baltimore County Division I title with Milford Mill Academy and eventual state 3A champ Franklin. Dundalk returns arguably the league’s best quarterback in senior Treshawn Ray along with defensive back/wide receiver Malik Lindsay and linemen Joe Delveccio and Marcus Barry.

Toughest 2019 opponent: Franklin. The Indians ended Dundalk’s season in the 3A North final en route to their third state championship in six seasons. The Reisterstown school returns quarterback Vernon Brown, Fordham University commit Mekai Felton (wide receiver/defensive back) and wide receiver/defensive back Xavier Cokley, who’s committed to James Madison.

Most intriguing 2019 opponent: Douglass-Prince George’s. The Eagles reached the 1A state final (lost to Fort Hill) after defeating 2017 champ Dunbar in the state semifinals. The Upper Marlboro school returns quarterback Devin Harding and senior linebacker Horace Harmon.

By a number: 5. Win improvement from 2017 to 2018 by Dundalk.
