Ducks hope to make noise in Baltimore City
With practice for the 2019 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.
2018 record: 5-6 (Class 1A North Region semifinalist)
Overview: The Ducks reached the postseason last year after winning two games in 2017. three seasons last year. The west Baltimore school will move from Baltimore City League’s Division I to Division II in 2019.
Toughest 2019 opponent: Mervo. The Mustangs reached their first state semifinal (Class 4A) last season after finishing second in the City League Division I. Senior quarterback Kelin Kimbrough will lead the Mustangs.
Most intriguing 2019 opponent: Lake Clifton. The Lakers won the City League Division I last year and reached the 1A state playoffs. Senior quarterback Michael Gray, an All-Met basketball star, is arguably the best returning player in the City League Division II.
By a number: 1. Win by Ducks in final six games last season after 4-1 start.
