Knights ready to challenge in Carroll County
With practice for the 2019 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.
2018 record: 6-5 (Class 2A West Region semifinalist)
Overview: The Knights made the postseason for the second time in three seasons last year. The Carroll County school will have two Baltimore Touchdown Club Super 22 selections in Dylan Wardle (linebacker) and Andy Kristian (defensive line) back in 2019 along with Brandon Diehl (line), Landon Bruce (running back/linebacker) and Kevin Hackett (wide receiver/defensive back).
Toughest 2019 opponent: Liberty. The Lions won the Carroll County Athletic League crown last season. The Eldersburg school will have back one of the area’s top quarterback in senior Nate Kent along with Baltimore Touchdown Club Super 22 selection McClain Butler (linebacker).
Most intriguing 2019 opponent: Dundalk. The Owls shared the Baltimore County Division I title last fall and reached the Class 3A North Region final (lost to eventual state champ Franklin). Dundalk will be keyed by Baltimore Touchdown Club Super 22 quarterback Treshawn Ray.
