Eagles testing new waters after championship run


Ryan Idleman will be back at quarterback this season for Annapolis Area Christian which returns to MIAA B Conference play. The Eagles won three of the last four C championships.

With practice for the 2019 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.

Annapolis Area Christian School Eagles

2018 record: 8-2 (MIAA C Conference champion)

Overview: The Eagles won their second straight MIAA C title (third in four years) last fall. The  school joins the B Conference this season with senior quarterback Ryan Idleman and senior wideout Jeremiah Taylor, both all-C league performers in 2018, leading AACS.

Toughest 2019 opponent: St. Mary’s. The Saints are two-time defending MIAA B Conference champs. The Annapolis school will led by all-league performers Alex Wicks (running back), Will Berzins (line) and Dhane Blair (defensive back).

Most intriguing 2018 opponent: Concordia Prep. The Saints join Annapolis Area Christian in a move to the MIAA B Conference after reaching the C final last year. Jarren Terry (linebacker) and Deonte Ferguson (defensive back) will be impact performers for the Towson school after earning all-C league honors last fall.
