Breakdown of Eagles’ schedule

Jake Harris (with ball) had a breakout sophomore season last year for Bohemia Manor. The Eagles reached the Class 1A East Region final.

With practice for the 2018 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.

Bohemia Manor Eagles

2017 record: 7-5 (Class 1A East Region finalist)

2017 review: The Eagles ended a streak of four straight first-round losses with a trip to the 1A East final (lost to Havre de Grace). The Cecil County school will have one of the UCBAC Chesapeake’s most versatile players in junior tight end/linebacker Jake Harris highlighting 19 returning letter winners.

2018 opponents’ win/loss record (from 2017): 54-54 (.500)

Toughest 2018 opponent: Harford Tech. The Cobras enjoyed their finest season in 2017, reaching the Class 2A state semifinals. The Bel Air school, which won the UCBAC Susquehanna last fall, returns all-Harford County performers Jalen Dangerfield (running back/linebacker), linebacker Charles Brown and quarterback Laday Cooper.

Most intriguing 2018 opponent: Elkton. The Elks have dominated Cecil County teams the past three seasons (Bohemia Manor was last Cecil team to beat Elkton in 2014). Elkton returns a relatively young roster, led by junior linebackers Tashawn Watters and Darnell Coursey.

By a number: 6. Consecutive playoff appearances by Bohemia Manor.
